DIORAMA DETAILS: Goin’ To The Track…and Tryin’ To Find Parking!

Some images of the traffic around Drag City. The main road that passes in front of the spectator entrance gate is the original service road that was once used as an ersatz drag strip way back in the 1950’s, but a dedicated exit from Interstate 8 built in the late 1960’s circumvents this completely and will take arrivals around behind the track, past the entrance to the VIP garage (members or by invitation only, please!) and into the lot, where the friendly local gendarmerie will direct you to whatever spaces are left…if you are lucky enough to find any! If you’re not, there’s always the distant “overflow” lot which, though over half a mile away, is visited every few minutes by a squad of 4 small busses to ferry you to the gates! So, load up your vintage ‘50’s/’60’s ride with your friends and some snacks and let’s “make it out to Drag City!”

  1. With cars like that, I wouldn’t mind be stuck in that heavy traffic! The figures in the convertibles really add a realistic touch
