It’s January 2023, marking 3 years since that fateful day in 2020 when I set up my old Tyco racing set on a whim and turned a diecast collector into a slot car racer. And holy cow, have I spent a lot of money lately! I’ve got so much stuff on order it will take me a month or more to get through it all, and I broke the bank; the toy money is depleted. This is a sign of a slowdown, as the vagaries of the economy and ever increasing prices are driving me to seek shelter from the storm. I love this hobby, but it can only go far, and now that nearly every car I want to add to my collection is selling for $100 or more, something has to give.

But not yet! In the next few weeks there will be a flurry of activity at my work bench, as I add new cars to my fleets and also do a little mechanicing and maintenance on the older ones, as a lot of my cars are starting to show the wear and tear from 3 years of racing. There’ll be some replacement motors, new tires, and other little tuning tricks to try, and I hope to blog about many of them on these here pages in hopes that some people who are also interested in this stuff can get something out of it for their own collections. I’m a little too busy these days to run tournaments, although I’ll manage to fire one off at some point, but its also possible that I’ll be making some changes to Drag City. Come what may, I will be building and I will be blogging, so if you like that kind of thing, stay tuned!

It seems like there is still a lot of very cool things to do with managing this incredible fleet. Still much fun to be had! It will be exciting to see what rabbits you pull out of your hat!
