Well here it is almost the end of April and the 1985 racing season at Drag City is only just now getting under way! This has been a busy year so far, and although I have bought and built a lot of cars, not much else has been happening at the track. That is, until recently.

Running 96 cars on a track the size of DC Mk IV took over a week, but time trials are finally done, and with the assist of the fastest recorded laps, I have been working on a scheme for breaking my massive muscle car fleet in 3 groups; the idea is not only to keep the cars with worthy competitors, but also to have some variety in each group so there aren’t too many or too few of any one brand or model. Its taken some time to come up with the grouping, and of course it will change, as that’s the point: group migration both up and down is expected. For now, though, I’ve finally come up with a roster for the 1985 season, so the muscle car races will begin this coming week!

As of right now, here is how the first groups of 32 look:

The crowds will be arriving soon for evening competition leading up to a big weekend shootout! Of course your humble blogger will be out of town more weekends in the future than in the past, but there’ll still be time for 3 32-car tournaments before the end of the summer…and then some!

Next up: dividing up the sports car fleet! It’s smaller, but its still gotta be split into at least 2 groups. Stay tuned, race fans: the action is about to begin!

Whoo Hoo! Hammer Harrison is back for a showing in that great Plymouth barn find he drives! I hope he does better than last time! Regardless of the results, he’ll look GREAT doing it! 🙂
