Fun @ 1:1 – The Biggest Toy Car in my Collection!

While it isn’t related to slot cars, I’m taking this opportunity to post some video of my favorite toy car in my entire collection…the biggest one!

This is my 1956 Chevrolet Two-Ten 4-door sedan; it’s an original V8 power pack car with factory power steering. The original 265V8 has been replaced with a 283 V8 bored .060 over and built by yours truly, and the original Powerglide automatic has been replaced by an aluminum TH350, but other than the addition of a Pertronix pointless ignition and an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, the rest of it is largely stock, right down to the original DC charging system and manual drum brakes. The only thing I didn’t do myself was the paint and striping, although I did design the colors and scallops.

I have owned this car for 23 years and brought it back to life from non-running condition with my own two hands, including all the body work, with the help of a dear departed friend. It is the only remaining car of what was once my little collection of classics which included a 2-door version of this same car, as well as a ’57 Cadillac, a ’63 Lincoln, a ’66 Mailbu, and several others that have come and gone. Its rough because home-built cars usually are, but every imperfection is mine! Throughout all the trials and tribulations of those years I’ve managed to hang on to this one, and I will never, ever let it go!

Taken with a digital camera and edited (poorly) with i-Movie sometime in 2016, this is me with a friend hitting cruise night in Golden, CO sometime in the late spring or early summer of that year. Seems like a different world now, doesn’t it? Due to how it was filmed this is likely to be of limited interest to other viewers, but note that it is a snapshot from a personal photo album that was never intended for “public consumption.”

  1. It’s great to see her again and you’ve done so much great work on this car. Such an impressive cruiser and so full of good memories.
