Well, you probably knew this was coming; ever since my dark post of October 1 I’ve been warning any readers I may have that my diorama, locked as it is in the mid ‘80’s, may be subject to the buffeting forces of the present. And here we are with just one example.
Now, before I proceed, I want to issue this disclaimer: I’m fully aware that this is a rant about a distinctly “first-world problem.” Considering the crises we’re seeing all over the world from Sri Lanka to Holland to Ukraine to Canada to the Heartland of America, this is going to seem pretty trivial in a few month’s time! Even so, it bears mentioning that…
THE STOCK OF CHROME 5-LUG WHEELS IS DEPLETED!
Dun dun dun DUNNNNNNN….
Yep, I placed an order for another bushel of these nifty wheels from your favorite vendor and mine, MEV, in late March; I was sent the colored ones I asked for, but I was rebated the money for the chrome ones. Why, I asked? Mr. MEV himself replied thusly:
“Sorry about. They are out of stock and my distributor is having an issue getting them made. When I get them in I’ll let you know”
Ah HA! SO! The engineered diesel shortage and the strike at the port of Los Angeles has hit me right in the middle of the 1980’s!
Of course I haven’t been blogging much lately, and that’s because I haven’t been building or buying much lately. That might have something to do with it now costing $75 to fill my gas tank, but of course that’s just a conspiracy theory; as our betters at the Washington Compost or the New York Slimes will inform us, I’m sure it’s all due to those dastardly “right-wing extremists” and their withering attacks on our “democracy!”*

I’d say Stay Tuned for more Action and Excitement, but the ’70’s are calling; they want their malaise back.
Actually, I do have a couple of builds in progress including a ’65 GTO and a ’67 Plymouth GTX, but at this rate I can’t say for sure when they’ll be finished!
* The United States of America is not now-nor has it ever been-a “democracy;” It is a representative republic! But “democracy dies in darkness,” right WaComPo?
