An ordinary weekend, for the most part; I had to spend part of my Saturday in the office working on the office networking equipment so that I would do so without disruption, but my project went well and only took a few hours. I don’t ming these occasional Saturdays in the office, as its often a good chance for me to catch up without any distractions or arm-flapping going on around me. Later that day, my racing buddy dropped by for some head-to-head completion. Prior to now we had always just referred to these sessions as “a friendly game,” but this time I thought we ought to make a spreadsheet and keep times.

We did, although that didn’t work out great because I was suddenly reminded of a weakness in the function of my racing timer that normally doesn’t affect me when I’m racing alone: when both lanes race simultaneously, the timer will display the total time of the 10 lap race and will show each lane’s quickest lap, but it will not display the complete race time for each individual lane! Hmmmm…

Looks like I’ll need to put some more thought into it. What we really need to do is a time trial, putting all his cars and all mine on the same lane on the track and running them for 60 seconds to clock the fastest lap time they can turn in, writing that down, and then staging races according to that, so cars are matched with those they are most likely to be competitive against!

So that is on the agenda for the next time we meet! This weekend, though, we just had another “friendly game” racing completely “box stock” T-Jets against one another! It may not be very technically sophisticated, but it sure is fun!

I wonder what other races use or if they have the same troubles as you. It would be great if there was some long term solution.
