“Pantera Party” EPILOGUE – Improvements to “New Builds!”

Since I’m now winding down my big 7-car “Pantera Party,” I wanted to do one last post on these beauties to show some improvements I made to some of the earlier ones as I got more experimental with the later ones. I thought the first 3 cars I built could use a little something extra here and there, so with some decals and some paint I made a few changes to the cars I’ve already profiled.

The change that required the most effort was done to “War Hammer,” the bright orange car. I thought the matte black painted hood I tried on the red one looked so good that I did the same thing after the fact to the orange one, and with some additional decals on top of it, this car now looks much better. Of course with the hood now in black, the orange wing no longer looked comfortable so I removed it just like I did on the red car, and she’s now all dressed up and ready to go!

Although it was less work, it seems like the most dramatic improvement was made to the black car. “13 Above The Night” was completely transformed with the addition of these racing stripes across the front and top in the colors of the Italian flag. This meant I had to scrape off the original #13 decal off the front, but thankfully I had another just like it in reserve so I was able to put it back. The way the number overlaps the stripes came up exceptionally well, and I also really like the “Michelin” banner at the top of the windsheid-this is a styling touch I’ve never used before and was a little skeptical of it but I think it came out great. A few additional ‘cals here and there really punch this car out, and it went from a relatively bland looker to one of the most interesting of the group.

Less work was done on “Solaris,” the yellow car; just a few decals added here and there, but because I removed the wing from the orange car I decided to put it back on this yellow one. This also has the black rocker decals used on the red “overstock” car.

Lastly, my favorite of the group, “Dragon Fuel,” really could not be improved, IMHO. With the exception of adding a couple of small Gulf logos to the front wings, I left this one exactly as I first built it.

So now what am I going to do with all these new Panteras? RACE ‘EM, of course! I think it’s time for a sports car tournament! The fall season is getting ready to start! The track staff is gearing up for the next installment of the sports car series, “Banzai Runner IV!” There will be a lot of new faces and new cars at the track for this one, so stay tuned, race fans!
