Nine Days, Nine Days

This is a very quick follow-up to my last post. If you read that one and watched that little video I did of racing the Tuff Ones on the Model Motoring track, you might not be surprised to hear that summer weather often puts me in a “Rockabilly mood.” That video was scored with a classic 1958 track by Dale Hawkins which was, appropriately, titled “Wild Wild World.” Today, another classic from the same era comes to mind: Gene Vincent’s B-side to his 1957 single, “’B-I-Bickey-BI, Bo-Bo-Go.” Although that song seems to be a fan favorite, I confess its never been one of mine: on the flipside of that single is a far superior track (IMHO), a jaunty little number called “Five Days, Five Days.”

So, what brings this up, you surely ask? Well, if you change the number “5” to the number “9”, you get a title that approximates this article which ran on today’s edition of City Journal, an excellent publication which I read frequently:

So there you have it, dear readers: your humble blogger isn’t the only one who called it! We’ve just lived through 9 unprecedented days in this wild wild world!

I can’t say I enjoyed it. I doubt you did either. But you know that old Chinese proverb, “May you not be cursed to live in ‘interesting’ times?” Well friends, we are so cursed!

All I can say is, grab your trigger and go racing! That’s what I’m doing! Maybe I’ll come out of the basement in late November…

Meanwhile, here’s a great musical interlude!
