October of 2020 was joyous, 2021 not so much, 2022 good again. I don’t mind telling you, race fans, that 2023 is going to be very hard. As the fall light begins and the days get shorter, I am missing my friend Dale terribly and thinking of him often; he was my “winter buddy,” and it will be difficult getting through the end of the year without his company. In spite of my loneliness, I am trying to honor his memory by doing what I love to do. And so, today marks the 38th year of my continuing tradition of playing that classic Duran Duran song on this date, and the 1985 FALL RACING SEASON is about to begin at DRAG CITY!

The SECRET OKTOBER races begin the first weekend of the month with the sports car series “BANZAI RUNNER IV,” with Group A racing the first Saturday and Sunday of the month and Group B following up the second weekend! Then the really big draw starts: the muscle car races for the next consecutive weekends as Group A and B battle it out, and the month’s events will culminate with the Group C Muscle Car Monster’s Ball for Halloween, always one of the track’s biggest events of the year!
Well, that’s the plan at least; in the real world, life often interferes. Since my man Patrick is working a schedule opposite mine these days, we don’t get as much time to see each other as I’d like, and as “Bidenflation” rolls on with no end in sight and I’m facing some major expenses over the next several months, there isn’t going to be much scratch for out of town recreation, which once again returns me to my basement and my track. That’s OK, though; that’s where I’m often happiest! So stay tuned for some updates from all the racing action throughout October, finishing off with everyone’s favorite “Holiday in Orange & Black!”

I’ve always liked your graphic design skills and these add that extra to your already exciting races. Next you’ll need to create the official Drag City soundtrack. Of “The Holiday in Orange and Black” is a nice touch for this special time of year.
