NEW BUILDS: The Last Chase

Another Cigar Box freewheeler is reborn as a Thunderjet! A while ago I showed you the red Porsche 904 that I converted; that one went together very easily, almost eerily so, and is so fast and stable on the track that its quickly becoming the new darling of the sports car fleet. This green one was a different story; this one fought me. You may be wondering why one would be so easy when another was more tricky, and I wonder that too! The day of week? Something in the air? The stars? Who knows? Sometimes they work out and sometimes you have to make them

With the construction of this former Cigar Box model, my squadron of 4 Porsche 904’s is now complete; and since it is “the last Porsche”, I am put in the mind of this corny movie from my childhood:

I actually liked this movie, although they got one thing tragically wrong; any “free state” of the future will most definitely NOT be in California!

I actually robbed the #8 from another car because I didn’t like the look of a white on black roundel for a car this color and the car that already has #8, which was tan, actually looked better with white on black; it was thus a happy circumstance that I was able to swap numbers, because I’m now stretching to find the decals that look right and have numbers on them that I haven’t already used. The new T-Jet chassis wasn’t performing to my standards so I fitted it with a set of Black Dragon magnets and finished it with a set of steel finish (rather than chrome) Vincent wheels and Road Race Replica silicone tires. While it doesn’t perform with quite the “shock and awe” of the previous red one, it can still hold its own, and there’s no denying it looks awesome!
