When I found this little Matchbox model of an electric cart at the train show last month I got an idea for a new “tableau…”
The men and women who work for a living are the ones that keep the lights on, the water running, and the trucks and cars moving…and at Drag City, they keep the cars moving FAST! I’ve been busy with my paint brushes, my glue, and my imagination of late! Here are some new and improved diorama elements showing the ever-increasing flurry of activity at and around the track…
Loading up! The well-used vending machines out in front of the main entrance gates facing the parking lot are being restocked!Over at pit row, a uniform and tool supply vehicle that specializes in stocking race track pit stops is unloading new wares for the bays! There are now a trio of “Michelin Men” busting tires on the other side of pit row, all in matching uniforms, of course!Across the parking lot outside the grocery store, a new shipment of foodstuffs arrives and gets unloaded for stockingABOVE LEFT: A close-up of one previously featured: a pit crew member signals to a racer for a stop. ABOVE RIGHT: Amazing how detailed some of these 3D-printed figures are; you can even see the pen in this dude’s hand! He has yet to be painted since I haven’t yet decided where I’m going to put him, but I wanted to show him in his “natural state” comparison to what he will look like when he’s finished and on the layout!
Those are just the latest scenes from the track, race fans, but there is much bigger news from the diorama posting tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Oh man, this is so inspiring! You have done such a great job bringing these figures to life, I’m inspired to try my hand at it. It does seen there are more options in unpainted 3D printed figures. Most of the ready made ones are pretty standard, which is ok, but the variety of all these cool “slice of life” tableau’s you have created are absolutely terrific!
