This post is going to be a very short teaser and nothing more. This weekend your humble blogger is fueling up The Cylon and heading out to the eastern plains, to a town whose name is an acronym which stands for Living In Middle Of Nowhere!
And why? To do a new kind of reportagé for this here blog!
I will be visiting one of my best and longest-time friends at his vintage farmhouse, who is an amateur but very skilled O-Scale railroad modeler, to check in on the progress of his most excellent project that mirrors my own: a basement spread where he gets to play engineer the way I get to play racer! While his layout is focused on trains, his skill as a modeler-which is entirely self taught-is really impressive. I hope to show you some of what he’s working on as well as learning a few tricks for my own basement spread!
These are just a few snapshots of a work in progress which is now much farther along. I’m anxious to see how its coming along, and to report on it as well! So grab a refreshment and let’s head out on the highway! After a few days’ chance to do some editing and writing, a follow-up post will highlight all the thrills of a weekend in “Harrisonburg!”
