It has taken a little longer than anticipated to kick off the first race of the new year, but when that kick finally came it sounded like a gunshot: the first full tournament of the new year began with a 5-lap challenge for sports cars called “The Zombie Apocalypse!” The action got started on an overcast Friday; advertised with images of pandemic and decay, the crowd came to see the full fleet of 64 sports and racing cars begin “Heat 1.” Due to the elimination rules, Heat 1 immediately whacks half the fleet, making the stakes very high in this first race of the tournament. The action was scored by the pulsating synthwaves sounds of the 80’s, with music provided in part by the excellent YouTube channel ThePrimeThanatos.
Racing will continue throughout the weekend until a winner is crowned through the following 4 eliminations leading to The Final Battle!

The theme of the race fits the national mood of 2022, a time of continuous crisis and turmoil, but back on a winter day in 1984, the hot dogs sizzle, the beer fizzles, the engines whine, the tires scream, and the crowd roars!
One can certainly feel the excitement in the air and Wardglenn looks fantastic! Looks like a great day at the races!!!!
