The worst wrecks are the ones where the spectators become part of the action; whether its the roof of a nearby business, a camper’s caravan, hitting one of the spectator parking trams, or sailing straight into the paddock area; these are the crashes that often result in serious injury or death
Breaking an axle or losing a wheel in the middle of a race is no one’s idea of a good time, especially if it makes your car wind up wedged in between the elevated track and a barricade
Probably the wildest crash in the history of the track: this big block Corvette wound up hung up by its front axle on the billboard below corkscrew #1 Almost equally amazing was the orange GTO landing in the hay trailer of a local farmer’s tractor
