Meet the Fleet – Muscle Cars: ’72 Camaro Z-28 RS

  • BODY: Dash Motorsports
  • WHEELS: Vincent
  • TIRES: Road Race Replicas

I don’t have many slot cars with bodies made by Dash Motorsports because there just aren’t very many of them! I’ve found a variance in the quality of their molds as well, with some being really spectacular and some being just OK. File this one under spectacular, with no hesitation! This beautifully proportioned early ‘70’s Camaro is light years better than the same body made by Johnny Lightning. Sadly its hard to find and expensive when you do, but I’m probably going to have to get another one at some point because it’s just too good to only have one.

The wheels on this one are Vincent “ATS” and this may be the only car in the muscle fleet that has them, but I’m reconsidering that; the style is more modern than I usually like, but they look great on this car. The February “Nickname table” project dubbed this one “El Grande” with a driver named “Wide Open” Roberts…both names seem fitting to me!

Note that this body is a little larger than a lot of the others, being closer to 1:64 than HO, which suits me just fine. Its still a T-Jet though, as that chassis will tell you! As for performance, it’s in the upper half; not the fastest or the most grippy, but can hold its own and has a good chance of winning. Win or lose, its looks badass…in fact, it looks so good it makes me wonder about getting a real one!

  1. That’s interesting and I didn’t recognize that maker from the other ones you have acquired. That model definitely works!
