About

WELCOME RACE FANS!

This is my blog about Thunderjet slot cars which I collect, build, customize and race. I have an interest in both the original versions by Aurora and the Auto World “Ultra-G” updates. Drag City Raceway is the name of the ever growing, ever changing HO slot car track that took over my basement in 2020. Early that year, when it seemed like the entire world was going insane, I  was looking for a new form of indoor recreation that I could engage in alone. This lead to a spur of the moment decision one day to set up the racing set I had owned since childhood just to see if it still worked, and from the moment I powered it up, I was hooked; I’ve been “going like hell” ever since! So, this blog is to share this hobby with other enthusiasts in hopes of both imparting knowledge that I have gained, and learning things from others.

In addition to my slot car hobby, I am also an avid life-long collector of 1:64 scale die-cast cars, and my dioramas and scenery incorporate these elements, which I also share on this blog.

Finally, I am a storyteller by nature; there’s a long back story to everything I do, and I enjoy these “world building” exercises almost as much as I enjoy building cars! Since I am a “Generation-X” child of the 1980’s, much of my scale modeling reflects my affinity for the era I was raised in.

Thanks for stopping by, and if you see anything here that interests you and want to know more about it, please feel free to drop me a line: I’m always eager to communicate with others who are interested in this hobby!

BIO:

Born a White male, I remain one to this day. I didn’t graduate from anywhere and don’t have a degree in anything, which is likely why I still have some common sense. I spend most of my days working with or working on computers. I enjoy Irish whiskey, loud primitive Rock N Roll, old cars, and cold winter nights. I live somewhere near Denver, Colorado and I do my best to get through each day, just like you.
