Road Crew Expansion: Dash Motorsports Brings Us Another “Ford-fest.”

A black bully muscle car and a trio of jaunty convertibles arrive to cruise with The Road Crew, all with freshly installed drivers! With the addition of the cars you see in this post, I’m wrapping up my acquisition of the ‘63’s, that trio of Fords – the Galaxie, the Fairlane and the Falcon – that Dash Motorsports so faithfully reproduced some years ago. Though they are nothing compared to the astronomical prices of the originals, these repros-beautifully made and now themselves several years old-are not cheap, so now that I’ve built a nice little stock of them, these latest additions are the final ones I intend to buy.

We’ll see how that goes! 😀

’63 Galaxie ‘vert in “butterscotch”, since I’m not sure what else you would call this “shade of tan.” Its different than what was used by Aurora, and the matching seats with the brown carpet and top provide a classy compliment, while the driver contrasts with his bright blue coat
I finally got a second ’63 Fairlane ‘vert – been looking for one of these forever! Although I was hoping to pick one up in turquoise, I figured that was a tall order, and when this light gray one came along with the elegant looking black and red interior, I jumped on it. Glad I did; the yellow, red-capped driver looks awesome behind the wheel, and this shade of gray is different from the other 2 gray Dash bodies in the Crew. “Shades of gray” indeed!
I debated on this one for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger on this very feminine colored ’63 Falcon ‘vert, a shade my dear departed mentor would definitely have referred to as “tittie pink.” Hard to argue with that! While there is ’69 Dodge Charger in “Panther Pink” in the Road Crew, this is certainly the only slot car I own in any fleet in this shade, and it looks very “vintage” with its black and white interior! I ran with the theme by fitting it with only the second instance of the Vincent “cone” wheels I’ve ever used. Since the driver sure looks like a dude, one has to figure he was forced to take the wife’s car when his didn’t start!

But wait, there’s more! In addition to the ‘63 ‘verts I’ve added a new Dash body, also a reproduction of an Aurora Ford that costs a fortune to buy whenever you can find an original one, namely the ’68 Torino GT. This example you see here is the first of the Dash repros I’ve acquired; sold mainly as kits with little to no detailing, they are nonetheless structurally faithful to the original, so I thought I would check one out, and as with nearly everything Dash does, I am not disappointed!

And here we have the odd one out in this group, the tough black Torino GT in contrast the elegant and sedate convertibles. While it is currently on a Tuff Ones chassis, I have a white T-Dash on order that should be arriving any day that will spruce up the look of this ride a lot, but she will keep those 5-lug chrome reverse wheels when that upgrade happens!

So there’s the latest from The Road Crew, and you know the latest on the Golden Gate H.O. Highway, so you can be sure these cars are doing plenty of mighty fine top-down cruising and even a little racing when no one is looking! Throw it into “race mode” and see what she’ll do, and enjoy the ride!

  1. Pink is not a color. She’s an attitude! And out of these three, even against butterscotch and his contrasting bright blue coat, the Panther Pink is by far my number one choice. Now let’s head these bad boys to the races and see who races most elite.
