Giving Thanks Our Way! “Black Friday” @ Colorado Diecast

Well, my 2024 Thanksgiving with a friend not too far out of town was pretty fine, as it consisted of a 10 lb ham, mashed taters, asparagus, stuffing, gravy, and an amazing corn creation featuring dill, rosemary, and thyme (but no, no parsley! What would Simon and Garfunkel say? :0). There was a punkin’ pie with homemade whipped cream as well, and plenty of red and white wine to go with it all! But this gearhead’s T-giving didn’t stop there!

It might be a little dangerous for your HB having a friend who lives so close to CO Diecast! Part of what kept me behavin’ was that the shop was an hour away from me and hard to find, but since Jason settled into that part of town, I now have an excuse to be in the area! Of course we all know what the day after T-giving is, and while we agreed to not get anywhere near any “big box” stores on “Black Friday,” it was Jason-not me, I swear!-who suggested we make a trip to this magical shop that exists exclusively to sell 1:64 (and -ish) toy cars, since he had never been there and wanted to see what I kept gushing about! It was a spur-of-the-moment decision, but boy, did it ever cost me! And just take a look at some of the cool loot from this raid!

Now, you may recall my post about my last trip to this store when I made the observation that I just don’t have any more room on the diorama for any more cars, and so I’ma have to start removing things in order to add things; but I also believe that one of the things that makes a diorama seem alive is chaging things up every now and then, so while I’m not going to do anything drastic, I am going to move some things around, and more details on those changes are coming soon, so do stay tuned!

Even a trip to the grocery store yielded a few sudden impulse purchases, as did a quick stop by a local Target, a store I haven’t partonized since thier unfortunate decision to wade into the culture wars a few years ago!

Upon returning to Jason’s haus, we unpacked our goodies and decided what to open!

My trip to Parker ended with me going into Jason’s own toy world when he took us to a cool place in Greenwood Village called “1 Up”, which is a bigger version of the local joint “Secret Level” that we spent Halloween @ in my neck of the woods: an adult arcade featuring a full bar and food, and row upon row of both vintage 1980’s and modern video games! I didn’t do as well here as I’d hoped, since I haven’t played some of these games since I was 12 years old, but it was pretty fun, and I’m starting to feel the bit of the bug to get back into gaming! Oh no…is yet another toy hobby on your humble blogger’s horizon???

Breathaking November 30th sunset over southeast Denver as we arrived at “1 Up” for a night of gaming and booze!
Amen to that! 😛

And just think…its not even X-mas yet!

More to come, fellow race fans and toy collectors…MUCH MORE!
